The subconscious part of the mind has no reasoning faculties, this is the domain of the conscious mind. It therefore accepts, without question or hestitation, whatever is feed to it.

This is one reason that some people believe hypnosis is dangerous if you used for selfish means. While I feel that any moral or value system cannot be tampered with using hypnosis these people do make some valid points. Poorly chosen post hypnotic suggestions can sometimes cause more harm than good and it has been claimed that some hypnotists deliberately plant messages for their own aims.

However, with self hypnosis it is you who chose which hypnotic method you use and which suggestions you want to incorporate into your session.
